In the House of Commons to-day Mr Parnell gave notice of a Bill to amend the Irish Land Act. The Bill provides for the reduction of the term of judicial tenancies to seven years. MARRIAGE WITH A DECEASED WIFE’S SISTER. Mr 0. 0. Morgan, M.P. for Denbighshire East, has given notice of a Bill to legalise certain colonial marriages with a deceased wife’s sister. THE PREMIER ON BRITISH. INTERESTS IN THE EAST. Lord Salisbury, in a speech in the House of Lords, said that the Government intended to uphold the policy with regard to interests in the south-east of Europe which England had always advocated. The only danger he apprehended in this quarter was if Russia resorted to adventurous and illegal action ; but he had specific authority for saying that Russia would carefully abstain from any illegal action in that direction. He attached great value to the assurance of the Powers that peace would he maintained.
