NEW YORK, February 9. Mr Amos Snell, millionaire, has been found murdered in his mansion in this city. The house had been broken into by burglars, and it is believed that they were surprised by Snell, and in the struggle which ensued he was killed. [Per Press Association.] MONETARY AND COMMERCIAL. LONDON, February 9. (F.e jcived February 11,1888, at 10.45 a.m.) The wheat (American) visible supply is 41,000,000 bushels. Wheat (ex store) is quiet and steady. The Bank rate of discount is 3 per cent. The weekly return of the Bank of England shows the reserve in notes and bullion to he L 14,394,000, being an increase of L44(5,000 on last week’s. The proportion of reserve to liabilities is 45 per cent. A DAMAGED MEAT CARGO. LONDON, February 10. A PARNELLITB MANIFESTO, LONDON, February 10, The Parnellites have issued a manifesto in which they thank the Irish residents in Australia for the support given in the direction of obtaining Home Rule for Ireland, and which they consider will prove an important factor in bringing the contest to a close. THE SHIPPING MONOPOLY. LONDON. February 10. The Committee appointed by the shippers to consider the freight question advise that shipowners be requested to modify their conditions, and that the maximum charge should be 30s per ton. In the event of this request not being conceded, the shippers are to organise an opposition line. THE LAND QUESTION IN IRELAND. LONDON, February 10.
