V WING to the manner in which the busif ness at the meetings of the City Council row carried on, 1 hud myself unable, at my /ance4 age, to bear the strain which attenice at the meetings of the Council imposes, to take a share in the proceedings with aditagu to you or satisfaction to myself. At i last two meetings the proceedings were of :h a character as to make me so very unwell rt I was compelled to leave some time before 3 close; and so much time was wasted in seemly altercation that I understand both of ; meetings had to be terminated before irartant business awaiting consideration could taken up. Seeing no prospect of any pnjvement for some time to como, I have iilercd to His Worship the Mayor my renation as one of your representatives in the luncil, believing it to be my duty to give you 6 opportunity to elect forthwith a younger d stronger man to cope with the difficulties the position. 1 regrot very much being mpelled to take this step, because I feel ider deep obligation to you for the handsome Miner in which you have twice elected me as e of your representatives in the City Council.
