Tho Mararoa left the Rattray street wharf this afternoon for Sydney via tho East Coast ports. The Nelson commenced to bond sails yesterday, and is expected to complete her loading by the end of tho Tho ship Zealandia is coming to Port Chalmers, after an absence of some four years, to load for Home; fho was to leave Napier on the sth or 6th inst. for this port, and is still commanded by Captain Phillips. Tho barque Clifton, of this port, arrived at Fremantle on tho 6th inst., after a fine tun across from Anau, from Sydney via Auckland and East Coast ports, arrived alongside the Bowen pier at 0 a m. to-Jay. She left Sydney at 240 p.m. of the 30th ult.; experienced light variable winds across, and reached Auckland at 2.40 a.m; on tho 4th inst.: left again on the stfa ; called at Gisborne on the 6tb, Napier on the 7th, Wellington on tho Bth, and arrived at Lyttelton on the morning of tho 10th, leaving again at 4 45 p.m. same day* and arriving as above ; light Variable winda and fine weatner continued down the coast, Wc thank Mr Purser Guy for report and exchanges. The schooner Lizzie Guy is loading at the Jetty street wharf for Auckland. ..... The s.s. Koranui, from the North, arrived at the Rattray street wharf tills morning. She loft Wellington at 5.16 p.m. on Monday ; had fine weather with light N.E. winds and smooth sea, passed Pompey Pillar at 115 p;tn. yesterday, and reached the wharf at 7.30 a.m to-day.

EXCURSION TO WEST COAST SOUND 3. The Tarawera sailed this afternoon for the annual excursion to the West Coast Sounds. On this, as on previous occasion?} she has received a complete overhaul, under the special supervision of Captain Cameron, marine superintendent, ard every provision has been made for the comfort and amusement of all oh board, The whole of the upper decks are covered in with water-proof awnings and curtains, and are lighted by tbo electric light* so that dancing and other amusements rtlay be carried on in tbo evening?: A piano nas been placed on the upper deck, and in the ’tween decks a theatre has been improvised* with complete Hconoy* The latter U tbo work of quartermaster Hector Cluohois. The drop’Scene reprtsents the liver Don, and has a very petty effect; Another is an Italian scene ; while a third rourorents the Eddvttonc lighthouse, the foot and flylighfet I eing lighted by clcctricl y. The whole of the ’tween decks arc carpeted} ahd ample sitting roofii is provided ; a piano has also been placed there for both concert and theatrical purposes. Forward of this there is a large sa’oon fitted, and on either side of this are roomy sleeping cabins. The saloon is also furnished with a piano and harmonium ; while on deck there is an inquiry office and hairdressing saloon tastefully fitted up; In addition to her ordinary complement of boats, she takes a steam launch find several other boats, which are to be fishing, prospecting, shooting, sketching, and ferrying to and from the shore; while the steam launch is to be used for exploring. The lonic, from Lyttelton (October 25) Rio (November 7), and Teneriffo (21st), arrived at Plymouth at 11.24 p.m. oh November 20 Length of passage, exclusive of stoppages, 41 days 1 hour 40 minutes.
