Heavy thunderstorms have been experienced in the inland districts of Victoria, and a, man has been killed by lightning. A man named Simpson, a disappointed lover, fired five shots at himself in one of the main thoroughfares of Adelaide, but only wounded himself slightly in the arm.
The revenue for Tasmania for the year is L 8,589,000, an increase of nearly a million. Tho following are the increases :—Pastoral revenue, L 704.000; railways, L 121,000; postal and telegraphic, L 38,000; excise, L 94.000; land sales, L 22.000; miscellaneous, L 52,000. The Customs revenue decreased L 56.000.
Mr Rotter, Mayor of llockhampton, has been arrested for extensive forgeries. He attempted to commit suicide with a bodkin, and succeeded in inflicting severe injuries. The amount involved is LIB,OOO.
