CALEDONIAN SOCIETY OF OTAGO.
Second Day.—(Continued.)
Yesterday's sports were spun out to a weary length, and instead of complimenting the directors on their energy, as on the first day, we have now to complain that they kept the public on the wet ground for fully an hour and a half longer than there was any necessity for. This is all the more inexcusable in face of the fact that the weather was so abominably bad that everybody wanted to get away home. The Caledonian Handicap ended in a victory for Williams, a Wellington runner, who won at two distances right out, made a dead heat at another, and could have won at the fourth if he had not already won enough points to secure first prize. G. Houston took second prize, he and Williams dividing between them the 9 points for first and second at 350 yds, at which distance they ran a dead heat. Peterson deservedly took third place, as he ran very gamely throughout; while Duncan also deserves credit for his staunch running. The following concludes our report of yesterday's events: —

Tiffen H. Dunn, oJd man. FINAL. H. Dunn 0. Robertson. This competition was continued from the first day. Tiffen gave in to Robertson without a contest, not caring to tackle so formidable an opponent. This left Dunn and Robertson to contest the final. The two quickly got a hold, and Robertson swung Dunn off his feet, but could not put him down, and after a sharp struggle Dunn pulled the Maori down on one knee, thus gaining the first fall. On meeting again they had a tremendous tussle, the two men being locked together for some minutes without either being able to gain an advantage, and eventually they slipped their hold. Ou going together again Dunn made short work of the Maori, back-heeling him smartly amidst great applause. Dunn thus took first prize, Robertson second, and Tiffen third.

M'Lean disposed of Millea after some good play, and Dunn gained one fall over Tiffen. Robertson and L'Estrange were a long time together without more than one fall being brought about, and that was credited to Robertson.

Ottrey was third until close upon the finish, when Marshall, who came with a grand rush, challenged him and wore him down after a hard run home.
Third Day. The weather to-day at the commencement of the sports was grand, for although the heat of the sun was rather oppressive it was tempered at times by gusts of wbd from the north. About 2,500 people were present. The directors met this morning and disqualified J. M'Nair for the rest of the meeting in consequence of his jostling and interfering with other competitors in the Five-mile Race yesterday. The following are the results of the various events up to the time of oar going to press :
