WESLEYAN DISTRICT MEETING.
Thp annual sessions of the Wesleyan District of Otago commenced this morning in Trinity Hall at ten o’clock, The District comprises all circuits and mission stations from Camara southwards, There were present the Revs. W, Morley (chairman), T. Fee, 6. W. J. Spence, S. Garlick, F. W. Isitt, C. Abernethy, R. Taylor, W. 6. Parsongon, «f, SJroitb, T. W§ll|9i R. Rothwell, J. Blight, and p. H. {aws. After singing, and prayer hy the Revs. Taylor; Isitt, and Fee, the chairman addressed the assembled ministers, He explained that the reason why the meeting had bepn postponed was owing to the delay in the passage qf the Trust Properties Bill through the House of Representatives necessitating his (the chairman’s) presen e in Wellington for a longer time than was expected ; be welcomed the Rev. F. W. Isitt and C. Abernethy to the District, and expressed thankfulness that the ministerial ranks had not been broken by death during the year, He concluded a most valuable address by urging the necessity for strict attention to pastoral work. The hours of session were fixed as follows: —Morning, 10 to 12.30; afternoon, 2to 5.. The Rev. T. Fee was elected secretary ; the ■ Rev. G. Spence assistant - secretary ; the Rev. R. Taylor correspondent to the ‘ Methodist ’; and Rev, W. G. Parsonsonto the daily papers. _ Arrangements were made for the examination of probationers in Greek and theology, and for bearing their trial sermons. Mr Rothwell was appointed to preach at Cargill road this evening, Mr Wallis at Mornington, and Mr Blight at Linieu. The usual questions as to ministerial character were satisfactorily answered, as also those respecting the circuit schedule books, with the exception of Balclutha and Milton, where the schedule books were kept. There were no candidates for the ministry to be proposed, and none of the ministers were prepared to offer themselves for foreign mission work. The report of the principal of the Three Kings College wap read, and it was resolved —“That we express our satisfaotiqn with the aipount and character of the work done by the students during the year. We, at the same time, regret that the principal’s health has not been vigorous, and trust that by God’s blessing he may be quite restored,” Reports of home- mission stations Were received,, and the meeting adjourned at ksq. ; ■ . , * This afternoon’s sitting was occupied in making 'arrangements for thb cotidtfctr bf business during theaesaion, ’ "! ■ 'I
