At about three o’clock this morning &p unoccupied four-roomed house in Devon street, Newton, was burnt down. It was owned by D. Shaw, and was insured for LIOO.
fhe criminal sessions were opened to-day by %r Justice Gillies. There are twentyfour cases, including those of Clegg, charged with manslaughter,' and Mary p’Conuor, manslaughter.
