AMATEUR SPORTS.
The Dunedin Amateur Athletic Club held their annual sports meeting on the Caledonian Grounds to-day. The attendance was only fair. The Ordnance Band played selections during the day. The following aie the results : 100 Yards Race. F. Meenan .. .. • • .. 1 W. H. Ailken 2 S.Kerr 3 These were the only barters, and Kerr got a rather poor start, being out of it all the way Aitkcn at first led, but Mocnan, however, soon overhauled him and finished fiesh. Time, lllaec. Onr Mme Bicycle. Arthur Murray (230 yds) 1 11. O. M'lntoßh(2r.oyd9) .. .. 2 J Milne (180 yds) 3 Howlis-m and K»rr (scratch), S. K. Stcadman (50yds), C. Ziele (136 yds), A J. George (190 yds), J. W. Hay nes (145yd8), also competed. This race was a rather hollow one, the Bharp corners intoifering with the scratch men, who had little chance. There was aIBO a spill or two, five riders coming to gritf, the riders blaming the vile track; there was, however, no one hurt, Time, 3min 41secn with 230 yds start High Jump. D. M. Robertson (Eft lljie.) .. ..1 J. T. Prain (sft lin) .. ..2 H. Power and F. Wright a'si competed. Robertson's jumping was greatly admired, and wo think him capable or making a butter record. 350 Yards Handicap. R. Bauchop (18yds) .. .. ..1 A. Millar (10yds) 2 A. W. Morris (scr.) 3 W. B. Eyre (13yds), \V. A. Smith (14yd3), and Reid (16j ds) also started. Bauchop was never approached, winning by about syda. The last comer teemed to trouble Morris slightly. Time, 43stc. 120 Yards IL rule (for the Championship of New Zealand). G. Shaw .. .. .. . • 1 JT. Prain .. .. .. •. 2 D. M. Robertsou .. .. ..3 Wright olbo competed. Shaw, who cleared the hurdles with good judgment, proved an easy winner. Time, 18sec. Three-mile Roadster Bicycle Race. Stcadman (scratch) .. ..1 A J. Murray 2 C. M'Kel'ey (60yds) 2 The th rd man did not finish K039, K-r-, and Ashcroft also started. M'Kelvey led for seme time, but Beal, who has s:mcthing to learn as regaids stylo, overtook him, and proved a winner by five or six yards. Time, 7min lOJsco.
