THE MUNICIPAL CONFERENCE.

WELLINGTON, November 5.

A deputation from the Municipal Conference waited on the Premier to lay before him the resolutions recently passed. Major Atkinson said he would consult with his colleagues on the various proposals submitted, and, if they arrived at a conclusion that they were important, the Government would introduce a measure during the present session to give effect to them. The Maypr of Wellington suggested that the members of city councils should be styled aldermen instead of councillors. Major Atkinson replied that the request was not an unreasonable one, and he would be most happy to support ah amendment of the Act in the direction suggested.
