Cohen's br c Jebusite, 3 yrs, Bst 31b .. 0 A splendid start was effected Algerian, Silver Prince, Thunderbolt, Tranter, Oakleigh, Recall, and Charmer getting first away; Meteor being one of the last to move off. Bacing down the straight, Charmer was leading Silver Prince by half a length ; then followed Tranter, Algerian, Thunderbolt, Remus, and Recall; the others in a bunch, Meteor being second from last. Passing the stand the positions were the same. In rounding the turu Silver Prince took command ; then came Charmer, Algerian, Tranter, Abereorn, Remus, Cranbrook, Australian Peer, and Recall, with Sardius bringing up the rear. Running along tho river side, Silver Prince maintained his lead, and the order remained almost unchangel until tho abattoirs were reached, when Dunlop and Silvermine assumed a bold front, and Trant j r and Thunderbolt fell away, done with. Approaching the scraping sheds, Silver Prince was still loading the field; Algerian, Oakleigh, Remus, Dunlop, Silvermine, Australian Peer, Recall, and Cranbrook following in tho order named, while the others filed past straggling. Coming abreast of the sheds, Silver Prince had shot his bolt. Algerian was also done with, whilst Dunlop assumed command, with Silvermine and Australian Peer closely following. A magnificent struggle between Dunlop and Silvermine ensued all the way up the straight, ending in favor of the former by a length and a-half; Australian Peer a length and a-half further off being third. Then came Niagara, Cranbrook, Algerian, Silver Prince, Abereorn, and Thunderbolt in the order named. The time, Smin 28|scc, is the fastest on record. Pakeba and Jebufite also ran. Tiident, Affluence, Frisco, and Enfilade were scratched. NURSERY HANDICAP, of 5 ws each, with 200 sovs added ; second 40 sovs, third 20 sovs. Five furlonjrs. Mr T. Simpson'sb f MagEio .. .. .. 1

Pasha beat Dufferin by a head after a splendid race. Time, lmin 44sec. Special Press Association messages add the following further particulars in connection with the Cup :—The winner is the joint property of Saunders, who rode him, and a Newmarket hotelkeeper. Dunlop's victory has saved many bad double books, and, as far as can be ascertained, there are no heavy winners over him. The betting at the post was: 5 to 1 against Meteor, 6 to 1 Australian Peer and Algerian, 7 ho 1 Oakleigh, 14 to 1 Silveimine and Recall, 20 to 1 Silver Prince, Remus, Dunlop, Niagara, Cranbrook, and Tranter, 40 to 1 Pakeha, The colors of Algerian, Silver Trince, Charmer, Recall, and Oakleigh were most conspicuous when the flag fell. Passing the stand for the first time, Silver Prince held about half-a-length's advantage over Charmer; next was Tranter, with Algerian, Pakeha, Oakleigh, and Remus racingtogether in line. Thesewereclosely attended by Silveimine, Dunlop, Thunderbolt, and Recall together. Abereorn headed the others, whilst Meteor and Sardius brought up the rear. Along by the river side Silver Prince continu-d to make play, attended by Charmer, Algerian, Tranter, Thunderbolt; and then, at a length interval, came Pakeha, Australian Peer, and Recall. Dunlop and Silvermine were lying next, and Abo corn and his stable companion, Cranbrook, on the outside, were leading the remainder. At the abattoirs Silver Prince and Algerian were racing together, and Cranbrook, Remus, and Abereorn could be seen improving their position, Australian Peer, Recall, and Oakleigh were next, just clear of Dunlop and Silvermine. Racing past the sheds the field began to take closer order, and Algerian and Silver Prince came back to their horses. At the turn for home Cranbrook joined Silver Piince, while Algerian fell back; and Abereorn, Remus, Oakloigh, and Recall tried to get up, but failed. On the outside of the ruck Silvermine's colors were showing prominently, while Dunlop held an equal advantage on the inßide over Silver Prince and Abereorn ; The Australian Peer and Algerian being a dead heat. Inside the distance post, and opposite the stand, Dunlop drew out clear from Silvermine, The Australian Peer, and Abereorn, and the raco resulted in a good finish, Dunlop managing to get home by a clear length from Silvermine ; while The Australian Peer was beaten off by a length for third place. Abereorn was half a head away fourth, Recall fifth, Oakleigh Bixtb, Algerian seventh. Then followed Silver Prince, Cranbrook, Jebusite, Meteor, and Pakeha. Charmer and Sardius were the last two. Time, 3min 28isec. Dunlop's Cup victory haß been a good one for the Ring. He was not by any means a general fancy by the public, notwithstanding that he ran third for the Caulfield Cup, when he was carrying 111b more, and has done good work ever since. NohorsoexceptSilvermine looked as well as Dunlop, who was originally the property of two plungers named Robertson, who three years since landed L 70,000 by Coronet's win in the Newmarket Handicap. All their fortune quickly went, inclusive of Dunlop. There were only three or four likely to come to the rescue of the double event for fielders, and Dunlop was ono of these. The total value of stakes for the winner amounts to L 3,845. Australian Peer, Abereorn, and Niagara, of the Derby horses ,all ran well; but Silver Prince, Algerian, Oakleigh, and Recall were done with at the homo turn. Meteor ran a complete fraud, and was never dangerous. Pasha s win in the Yan Yean Stakes is some consolation to Mr Drake, who backed him for a big stake.
