J. Goscben, the Hon. G. C. Brodrick (Warden of Merton College, Oxford), Viscount Cranbrook, the Hon. E. Lyulph Stanley, and from the rectors of several German universities. The Rev. Dr Stainer lin his letter says :—" I have perused it with 1 much pleasure since my rethrh; infl am convinced that it is the most valuable work in the English language on the 7 subject ever published." And again: " A'llow'me to congratulate you on the honorary degree which has been conferred uponyou, and which yon so highly merit." As an instance of appreciation of the work by the Genngris, a quotation from tile letter dated 31st duly, from the rector of Marburg, University,! may be given ;—"By your report you Ibav© rendered a great service, not J 6nly;to; ipouV native land, but to the whole- educated World."— 'New Zealand Herald.' ■ i<>
