The Bank of England’s weekly returns show the total reserve in notes and bullion to bo L 11,700,000, a decrease of LIOO.OOO during the week. The proportion of reserve to liabilities is 42 per cent. The Bank rate of discount to-day was raised to 4 per cent, and the market rate to 3|.
