GAMBLING DENS.

TO TUB EDITOR. Sir,—l think it is about time some steps were taken by the police to put a stop to a gambling den in Walker street occupied by Chinese, who nightlycarry on a game called “ banker,” when all sorts and conditions meet to play the fascinating game. The reason I ask you to insert this is: I know several young men who receive their wages on Saturday nights, and on Sunday have not a penny to take home to their parents. Trusting that the authorities will take the matter up.— l am, etc., Munster Arms. Dunedin, August 24.
