ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
A young man named Carey, sixteen years of age, son of Mr William Carey, gardener at Mornington, had his collarbone rather badly fractured yesterday afternoon while playing football at Montecillo. James Robertson was received into the Hospital last evening from Mullocky Gully suffering from a fractured thigh, sustained by falling from a scaffolding about 20ft in height. He «s not likely to sustain any permanent injury. The Arrow correspondent of the ‘ Daily Times ’ telegraphed last night“ A young man named John Smith met his death by drowning in Lake Wakatipu at Kingston on Tuesday. Smith had been engaged here in various occupations for some time past.” A Scandinavian named Myers, while out shooting at Greytown yesterday, met with a gun accident. His wrist and his arm had to be amputated, James Stevenson was killed at Masterton by a tree falling on him. A girl at Days Plains (New South Wales) poisoned herself because a man she jilted drank himself to death. This preyed on her mind, and she determined to follow
him, A son of Mr William Gray was drowned in the Waiwera last night.
