DUNEDIN EAST ELECTION.
T9 THE EDITOR. Sir,— l thick everyone must admire the intelligent, stiaightforward, and manly utterances and bearing of Ur Allen, and nearly everyone will regret that he is pitted again® Sir Robert Stout The latter is an experienced politician, and an able speaker; and though he is felt to have very largely lost his high position as the people’s leader, and to have utterly prostituted bis abilities and principles to vanity and greed of power, it is still almost certain, I should fancy, that he will win this election, even if only by a narrow majority. Ur Allen Is a man worthy to be returned. Independent (the honorarium being of no moment to him), intelligent, educated, manly, and in the prime of life, he is just one of the men that we badly want, lam an elector of Uornington, and I neither like the shifty Ur Ross nor the unknown and, I fear, crude Ur Carlton. I am sorry that my occupation will not allow me to take an active part in canvassing or preparing a petition, but I want to suggest that Mr Allen be asked to stand for Uornington. Uy vote is at his disposal, and I believe those of a large number of others also.—l am, eto, Uornington Elector . Uornington, July 2.
