A slight error crept into the, leading article yesterday. The Defence Estimates for 1887-38 are stated as showing an inorease of £I,OOO on those of 1884-85. It should read £3,000, Even with this correction the calculation is under the mark, beoause in the Estimates for the ourrent year £15,000 is charged to Publio Workß under the head of " Harbor Defenoes." The aotual inorease is therefore in excess of £IB,OOO as compared with 1884,
