ELECTION NOTES.
Mr W. F. Howlett, who will contest one of the Hawke's Bay seats, has issued this quaint address: —"I don't care two pins whether I get in or not. To regard the position of M.H.R. as an honor is absurd. A man is judged by his company, and as an ordinary member I should lose caste. I should, however, like to find out why such a number of seedy ont-at-elbows people hustle to get in. Whose pockets do they get their fingers in? How are the steals arranged ? Yod may be sure that the rednosed men, in patched boots and doubtful linen, are not there for the honorarium, much less for the honor and glory. They have their axes to griud, and when I find out I will let you know." The ' Lyttelton Times' publishes the following telegram from its Wellington correspondent :—" The City of Christchiirch electorates are : not changed. A part of Stanmore is added to St. Albans. The rest of Stanmore goes out, and there is a new electorate of Linwood. Geraldine and Wakanui are done away with. There is a new electorate of Rangitata. The VVaimate electorate extends from Waihao to Timaru. Gladstone takes in all the Geraldine district not included in the new Rangitatu electorate."
