The George street Scho.ol Committee (Mr Jago in the chair); at a meeting last night decided to recommend Miss Mary Fraser for the vacant third assistantship. There were nine, applicants for the position, A female teachpr in a Wanganui school wan presented last week by her pupils with a token of their esteem and affection. The. token consisted of a set of false teetjh I At a meeting of thp. Dunedin Horticultural Society’s Committee last' evening, Mr George M’Millan was elected to the Committee in th,e place of, Mr W. Isaac, resigned. The schedule and prize-list for the current year will soon he ready : for distribution. A number of new members have already been added to the list, and a very liberal number of special prizes are offered for the Society’s shows. ‘
