THE SENIOR CUP CONTEST, The Senior Cup contest arranged by the Otago Cricketers’ Association last season remained unfinished. So far as the contest proceeded, the Phoenix Club’s team, with 7 victories out of 8 matches played, headed the list. The Warehousemen with 7 wins out of 9 matches played, and the Carisbrook Club’s first team with 6 wins out of 8 matches, came next on the list. The records of the other teams are as follow Wanderers, 6 out of 9 ; Southern, 5 out of 8 ; Excelsior, 5 out of 8 ; North Dunedin, 4 out of 8 ; Grange, 3 out of 8; Waverley, 3 out of 8; Roslyn, 3 out of 9 ; Albion, 3 out of 9; Carisbrook second team, 2 out of 8. PHIENIX CLUB’3 AVERAGES. The following are the batting and bowling averages of the First Eleven of the above club for the season 1886-7. Charles Frith’s performance with the ball is an exceedingly good one. He secured 111 wickets at k cost of 457 runs, or 4.13 runs per wicket. Through the mislaying of a scoring-book, it was found impossible to compile the averages of the Second Eleven. Messrs A. M'Lean, James Beck, Hanlon, and Neave did very well with the bat; and Hanlon, Beck, Hungerford, Neave, and M‘Gregor with the ball. Battiso Averages.— First Eleven.
