CLOSE OF THE WOOL SALES.

LONDON, April 23. (Reoeived April 25,1887, at 1,15 a.m.) ■'
The wool sales closed to-day very firm. One hundred and twenty thousand bales have been taken for export, and 25,000 have been reserved. Merinoes maintained the February average; coarse cross-breds advanced 5 per cent., und best qualities of lambswool 5 to 10 per cent. ; faulty Bhowed a similar decline. :
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company received the following cablegram from their London office, dated 23rd inst. :—" Wool : The sales closed to-day at the level of last sales. Fine and greasy cross-bred has advanced £d per lb; greasy merino lambs has advanced hi per lb since close qf last sales ; faulty lambs has delined £d to Id per lb; coarse cross-bred market firm. The sales comprise about 220,000 bales; 25,000 bales have been held over for future disposal; 120,000 bales have been sent to the Continent; 1,438 bales have been taken for America."
