THE LITTLE BEAUTIES.

A medley entertainment entitled "The Little Beauties " was produced for the first time at the Lyceum Hall on Saturday evening. There was a good attendance, the lower part of the house being well filled. The first part of the programme consisted of a Christy minstrel concert, a novelty bekig introduced in having a number of girls on swings instead of seated on chairs. The interlocutor was dressed in a handsome suit of regimentals, and paced up and down the stage with quite a military air. Miss Ellen Robs was undoubtedly the best siuger, and was deservedly encored for her rendering of "Only a Pansy Blossom." Mr Percy Brown sang " Gathering up the Shells " in a creditable manner, whilst the choruses by the company were all very fair. The four corner men sang moderately well, but their jokes fell rather flat. Mr Bishop scored a success in his character songs " Oh : the Fairies," and "Be Kind to your Dog." This portion of the programme was concluded by a tableaux representing the interior of a coal mine. In the second part Mr Harry Estley's singing and stepdancing was well received, but Mr Bishop's piano playing was the principal item. MiBishop is a very clever performer, playing the piano in all sorts of extraordinary attitudes. The performance concluded with a set of tableaux representing the evils of drink, but their moral was completely lost on tho audience owing to the manner in which they were produced. Taken altogether, and excepting the tableaux, the entertainment is worth witnessing, but before it will draw large houses it will be necessary for Mr Bishop to make some necessary changes. The " Little Beauties" will bo repeated this evening.
