Tho ship Jessie Rcadman has taken on board 700 bales wool and 80 casks tallow. The schooner Spray, from the North, arrived early this morning, and passed the Port to Dunedin with a freshN.E. hj ecze. The Rosamond, with cargo ox the Brier Holmo, arrived on Saturday evening from Lyttelton, which port she left at 7.30 pm. on the 16th inst. She steamed up to town to discharge yesterday morning. Tho Invercargill, from Invercargill via the Bluff, arrived at 8.30 a m. yesterday, and steamed alongside the expoit pier to tranship 64 l ales wool. She left Invercargill at 7 a.m of the 10th inst., reached the Bluff at noon, and left again nt 6 p.m. same day. Had light winds and fine weather along the coast. The brigantine Enterprise, with 1,800 sleepers from Pelorus Sound, arrived on Saturday evening, and was berthed at tho George street pier in readiness to discharge. She left Pelorus Sound on the evening of the 9th inst.; had N.W. winds until sho passed Cape Campbell on the llth inst., when tho wind veered to the S.E and held in that quarter until she breasted Banks Peninsula on the ttih, when she tookaN.E, breeze, which continued to arrival. The Penguin left the Dunedin wharf thin afternoon for the Manukau via Lyttelton and ii.termediati porta. The Wanaka left Oamatu at 5.20 p m on Saturday ; had N.E winds with fine weather along the coast, and readied Rattray street wharf at 830 p.m. Sho brought 126 bales wool, 63 casks tallow, and 44 oases preserved meats. The following vessels have arrived at and departed from the Dunedin wharves dming tho past week : Arrivals: Caberfeidh 333 tons, Wainui39l, Go-Ahead 129, Wairarapa 1,023, Wanuka 278, Kakanui 50 (twice), Herald 366, Clide 87, Penguin 442, Mahinapua 206, Mawheia 340, Wanaka 278, Rosamond 462 ; total, 4 436 tons. Departures: Hawea 402, Wanaka 278, Kakanui 60 (twice), Wairarapa 1,023, Invercargill 123, Go-Ahead 129, Wainui 891, Herald 366, D.viintleas 20, Wanaka 278, Mahinapua 205 ; total, 3,377 tons. The Imperieuse, which is reported to replace tho Nelson on the Australian waters, is of the class known as barbette ships, of which H.M S Anson, Benbow, and Howo are late specimens. She is a twin-screw ship ol 7,390 tons displacement, brig rigged. Her dimensions are—Length 315 ft and beam 02ft, and draught of water 24ft pin She carries four 9}in 18-tou guns and six Cin guns, all brcicbloading, and her armor varies from bin to ICio; her deck be nir protected by a 3in plating of steel. She is comparatively a new ship, having been built at Portsmouth in 1883. Her engines are of 10,180 indicated hor»e-po» er, and give her a speed of over seventeen knets, while her coal-carrying capacity is 1,130 tons. It may bo noted that the Nelson only has a speed of fourteen knots, although she carries a heavier armament. For the purpose of comparison it miy be stated that tho Arawa’s dimensions are as follows ; - Length, 439 ft; beam. 40ft; and draught, 24ft to 25ft, according to nature of cargo. Bluff, April 18.—The Tc Anau arrived here at 10 a.m. She left Melbourne at 415pm. on the 13th, and Wllliamstown at 8.30 p m.; cleared Port Philip Heads at 11.30 p.m., arriving as above. Exper onoed moderate variable winds and fine weather till the afternoon of the 17th inst.; thence till arrival had fresh easterly breeze and thick weather.
