The amount of revenue collected at the Customhouse on (roods cleared to-day (or consumption was L 1,407 63 4d. It is announced that a now company is to bo formed, with a capital of L 300.000, for providing an entirely new fleet of river passenger steamers for the Thames. The steamers will be built of steel, and will have the most conomiaal typ: of engines. Thirty-two cl them will bo adapted (or metropolitan service chit fly, and will run at short intervals io tween Chelsea and Greenwich, calling usually at all piers, but at certain times running express. Two li r gor vessels ot high speed will take the excursion service to (ho Irweil and Medway, and other vessels will bo specially designed for the Hampton Cou t and Kow service. Forty new steamers in ail will be built. Mr Montagu Pym reports having held an auction to-day of 1,800 mats Mauritius sugars, ox S naragd, on account of whom it may concern. There was a full attendance ot the trade, tlie competition was keen, and every lino sold. MINING NOTES. Glob.-s and Progress have been quit during the past day or two, attention having been absorbed in other directions; but as ihe latter resume on Monday (to day) and tho Globe at an early date, a movement in both directions may bo looked for shortly.
