THE DRUIDS’ DISTRICT GRAND LODGE.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —The cablegram I sent to Past-arch Bro A. H. Shelton Avas worded as folloAvs: — ‘•Charter granted September meeting fresh application Grand Officers favorable.” And I maintain that it truthfully conveyed a conJ- used report of the courteous hearing given to me at the Grand Lodge meeting. After I had at some length referred to the repeated applications for years past, and detailed how one obstacle after another had been placed in the way of our Middle Island lodges joining unanimously together, I pleaded that the majority in favor of local government in the Middle Island should have their request granted. My remarks were received in the kindest spirit, and I finally accepted a suggestion made to me by Past President Bro J. Boyd to withdraw my motion for “the adjournment of the Grand Lodge until the next day,” to enable him to move a motion to the following effect, that the lodges make fresh applications for a charter to the September meeting, and they would be favorably received. Bro. Boyd’s motion was put and carried a’most unanimously. When tho minutes came to be read at the end of tho meeting the matter was referred to in a different manner and changes were promised to be made in the record, but I find the words “favorably received ” have been left out, although the mover of the motion supports my contention that those Avords formed part of his motion. There is no real difference in point of fact, and however the authorities may disagree as to the actual Avording of the motion, it is admitted that fresh applications can be nude to the September meeting ; and I have no duubt, from my intercourse with the representatives and Grand Lodge officers, that a charter will be granted to those lodges that apply.—l am, etc., A. Morrison, P.A., Representative No. 19 District. Dunedin, March 16.
