THE LAND BOARD.

The ordinary meeting of the Land Board was held to-day and was attended by Messrs Maitland (Chief Commissioner), Duncan, M’Kenzie, and Clark. J. The New Zealand Trust and Loan Company applied for a lease of section 15, block 10, Hillend.—The Board decided that as the land is within a Hundred they could not lease it, and to ask the Warden if there was any objection to selling it. The Warden at Clyde, reporting on the application of A. A. Oliver to occupy sections 26, 28, 29, 69, 30, 31, and 32, block 1, Leaning Rock, stated that the sections were required for tailings, but that there was no objection to their being dealt with under clause 76 of the regulations under the Mining Act, 1886.—Applicant referred to Warden.

G. Stephenson asked that a practicable road should be through block 14, Tuapeka West, and stated that he suspected the existence of dummyism in the district. Board decided that there was no necessity for the alteration of the road line, and to notify those who were not residing on their sections that if they did not comply with the conditions of occupation within two months, their licenses would be cancelled.
