TO TUB EDITOR.

gjti,—Afc the present time the discharge o! ammonia water in tho Upper Harbor is rightly occupying public attention. _ I cannot seo, sir, why this nuisance should exist at all, for, if I remember rightly, in one of the reports brought before the City Council some time ago, it was stated therein that this water could be made reproductive; and I think that now Or Lee Smith has established himself as an authority upon the Working of gasworks, with tho combined efforts of himself and the Gas Engineer they might see their Way to profitably utilise the same and bring about a consummation devoutly to be wished.—l am, etc., E.D.S. Dunedin, Starch 14.
