THE PENINSULA ROAD BOARD.
The aboro Board met on the 6th last., in the Highcliff Schoolroom,! there beingpreeent Messrs Stewart chairman), R. F. loglis, J. and A. M&thleson, J. Wyper, and R. li«e. A letter was read from Messrs Fraser and Stilling asking the Board for permission to modify Mr M'Kay'a eWim of L 162 for land required for the devl£ Hon of a road through his property. Resolved—TJ* Mr Kay, who was present, and explained the modification sought, be paid L6O and have the old road.—A letter was read from Messrs Duncan, Macgregor, and Webb, on behalf of Mr Hutcheson, offering to take LlOin settlement of his claim for land for road purposes. Resolved that the Beard adhere to their offer already made.—A letter was read from Anderson Bay Church Committee in reference to Church land for improvement ot road at the junction. Referred to Mr White, a mem* er of the Board, aa he had been in negotiation with the Committee on the subject.—A letter from the Charitible Aid Board, with a list of names of pe-sons receiving reli'f fioru the dittriet was read, asking for certain information on tins subject Resolved that the cleik procure and forward the information askid for.—Mr Kirkwood, eontractor, applied for a permit for blasting in a quarry near Anderson Bay. It was resolved that he bo granted permission, on condition that he strictly comply »ith the neeessaiy requirements in cases of blasting with powder, eta. In reference to a deviation of the road through Mr M'Kaj'd property, it was decided that the members of the Sandymount subdivision and the inspector prepare specifications and call for tenders for next meeting.—The chairman and treasurer and the countersign were authorised to sign cheques .for stones, to be paid during the month.—it was notified that unless Mr Reekie proceeded with his contract at Highcliff the Baard would carry it out at his expense. —LIO was voted for improving the road at Roger's gate.—The olerk was directed to write to Mr fe'peny for the Grown lands rates, etc
