According to Mr O'Conor, M.H.R., there exists a regular mountain of coal at Mokihiuui, on the West Coast. The seam varies in thickness from 32ft to 10ft, and the coal is dull, containing little gas, but burning without any clinker, being, in fact, pure carbon. In quality it much resembles the Coalbrookdale. The place is easily accessible by railway, the grade being only 1 in 40.
