THE PORT CHALMERS ELECTORATE.
TO THE EDITOR. Sib,— ln your last evening’s Issue Dr Drysdale is reported to have said at a meeting of the fort Qhalmers electors on Tuesday nfgh'i tjiaj:; interviewing Mr Mills, with a yipw of ascertaining vfeether that gentleman's opinions on pertain questions were in unison with those of the “constituents at Port Chalmers," he told him “ that he (Mr Mills) had been reported, to have said to the] chairman of the Harbor Board’ that if thoy started a big dock in Dunedin "thp Company would see them through the • undertaking.” If by “the chairman” Dr Drysdale meant thej present chairman of the Board, then I may say that in any conversation which I have had with Mr Mills, no reference has at any : time been made to the construction of a big dock at Dunedin. !
I consider that under existing circumstances the objections to the construction of a dock such as is contemplated at Port Chalmers may be urged with even greater force against a similar work being proceeded with at Dunedin,—l am, etc,, ' A. H>.Kos«, (
