MELBOURNE, December 21. (Received December 21,1&56, at 10.111 p.m ) The Englishmen concluded their innings for 201. Lohmann was caught for 14, Scotton bowled for 39, and Sherwin not out for 1. They had to follow on, and when stumps wore drawn Jjad lost nine wickets for 227. The scores were :
The second innings of the Englishmen closed for 264 ; Sherwin (caught) contributing 25 and Lobroann (not put) 35. The Australians were only able to make 114 in their second venture, thus losing by 57 funs. Bruce (caught) was top scorer with 32, Spofforth 25, Trott 13, M'Jlwrajth and Garrett 12 each. None of the others obtained double figures.
