A wrman named Raymond, thirty-five years of age, was brought before one of the Police Courts in Paris on March 10 on a charge of throwing some vitriol in the face of her lover. In defence she pleaded that she had no wish to kill him—sho loved him too well for that. She merely wished to burn his eyes out in order that ho might become wholly dependent upon herself, and that thus she might prove her life-long devotion to the man she adored! The C'liu-t did not sympathise with her in her burning affection for the complainant, *nd sentenced her to four months' imprifonm"nt.
