(Received January C, 1886, at 1 p.m.) A complimentary banquet was given last night to Sir John Macdonald, |Premier of Canada. Sir Arthur Blyth, Agent-General for South Australia, in his speech, said that the colonies had proved their loyalty to the Mother Country by their deeds, and would never fail to aid her. GREECE'S DEMANDS. LONDON, January 5. The Greek Government have issued a Note to the Powers claiming the delimitation of the boundaries of Greece in accordance with tho Treaty of Berlin. [' Argus' Special to Press Association.] LONDON, January 4. (Received January 6,1888, at 12.40 p.m.) The ' Times' states that the Government intend to introduce a scheme of local government for the United Kingdom, and that Mr Gladstone will move that these proposals are insufficient for Ireland. Sir John Macdonald, Premier of Canada, is willing to consent to Canada forming an offensive and defensive league with England. Lord John Manners invites tenders for a weekly or fortnightly mail service to Adelaide via Brindisi or Naples; the service to occupy not more than 628 hours. Tenders close on March 31.
