CRICKET.
Crawshaw, erstwhile of Otago interprqvincial fame, has joined the Lancaster Pari; Club, Christchurch, and will make his first appearance in Cup matches next Saturday against the Midlands. The Gordon Club, thanks to the fine bowling of Meldrum (six wickets for 13) Rnd Gould (four for 18), made a sorry exhibition of the Auckland Club's first eleven, who were disposed of for 34—Coxoh, with 9, being the highest scorer. The team included O'Brien, Beale, Barton, and Osmond. Gordon put together 163, Clayton contributing 45. The Enrtlioh gentlemen cricketers sustained, their first defeat in America by a i?hiiadelphiaii team. The Sydney papers report that E. Evans, the popular New South Wales cricketer, is seriously ill with sunstroke. It has affected the poor fellow's mind, and his friends are apprehensive of his condition. The match Waverley First v. Albion Thirteen was commenced on the Albion Ground on Saturday afternoon. The Waverley so far have the best of the game. Going first to the wickets they scored 132 runs, to whicli their opponents responded with 25 runs, and in their second venture lost two wickets (Dalton and Ringer) for 5 runs. The Albion played one man short. The following are the scores :

The Anderson Bay Juvenile Second played the Rosemount Second at Anderson Bay. The scores were—Anderson Bay, 25 and 33 ; Rosemount, 22 and 32.
Only six of the Albions rolled up at the railway station (very discreditable, indeed, for one of the leading senior clubs), and these very pluckily proceeded to the Taieri with the idea of getting a good thrashing, but the state of the game showed differently, being a draw greatly in favor of the Albions, who, with the assistance of two substitutes, put up the very respectable total of 112, thanks to the fine steady batting of Dawes (40), who this season is in great form with both bat and ball. Parker and Carr also batted well for 3G aud 20 respectively. The Taieri did not fare so well, the bowling of Hesketh (who captured two wickets for 11) and Dawes (two for 15) being too much for them, and at the call of time they had five wickets down for 26.
