CRICKET CLUB MEETING.

The annual general meeting of the Carisbrook Cricket Club was held in Wain's Hotel on Saturday evening. Mr J. P. Maitland occupied the chair. The Committee reported that, as in the preceding season, cricket had suffered by the very inclement weather, and the interprovincial match with Canterbury found most of the eligibles in very imperfect trim. The new venture playing mixed elevens in inter-slub matches had been successful. Some notable individual scoring had been recorded, a general improvement amongst the younger players being specially noticeable and encouraging. In the forthcoming season the retiring Committee have confidence in recommending this amalgamation of more experienced and younger players to their successors. Messrs T. L. Austin and F. 11. Cooke stand to the front with a batting average of thirty-seven runs each, while 11. Austin takes the leadingposition with the ball, with a record of 6.1 runs per wicket. Reference was made to the loss the Club had sustained in the departure from the district of Mr F. 11. Cooke. The balance-sheet showed that with no indebtedness there was a small balance in hand, and assets to the value of Ll6B 4s 2d. The total receipts for the year amounted to L 219 9s 9d, and the expenditure to L 214 14s 4d. The income therefore exceeded tho expenditure by L 4

15s sd. The Committee urged the necessity of the introduction of new members, playing and honorary, if the Club is to keep up its prestige and premier position; and it was pointed out that a successful season could only be secured by consistent practice, regular attendance at matches, and a thorough co-operation with the Executive in all their duties.
