ROYAL HUMANE SOCIETY OF AUSTRALASIA.
At the last quarterly meeting of the above Society the following were among the applications for awards dealt with : William Hiscoke, of Sumner, New Zealand, whose age was not stated, for attempting to rescue William Trebblecock, aged 14 years, from drowning on the 21st March last, at Sumner, was awarded a certificate of merit.
Allan T. Little, aged 27 years; H. S. Liddle, aged 18 years; Louis Ziegel, aged' 32 years ; and H. K. Hovell, aged 23 years, all of Napier, New Zealand, who assisted in rescuing E. M. H. Dudaille, aged 23 years, from drowing and bringing him through the surf to the beach at Napier, were each awarded a bronze medal.
Leonard Howard, aged 17 years, and Samuel Crossinan, aged 33 years, of Napier, New Zealand, for rescuing John Cook from drowning at Napier on May 19, 1884, received a certificate of merit.
Alfred Buckley, aged 36 years, of Christchurch, New Zealand, for rescuing Mortimer Godfrey from drowning at the River Avon, Christchnrch, on April 3, 18S5, received a bronze medal.
Thomas Leeman, master mariner, aged 32 years, captain of the Waitangi, for rescuing T. G. Wilde, the steward, and A. Stuart, the third officer of the vessel, from drowning at Napier, New Zealand, on January 10, 1885, received a bronze medal.
