MASONIC.

At a meeting of the Robert Burns Lodge of Instruction, held in the Masonic Hall on Thursday evening, Bro. Baxter, the retiring preceptor, was the recipient of a handsome gold pencil-case suitably inscribed. In making the presentation Bro. Credgington alluded to what the retiring preceptor had done for the lodge. Bro. Baxter, in thanking the members, said whatever ho had done for the lodge at any time had been to him a great pleasure. The annual communication of the District Grand Lodge of Otago and .Southland, E.C., was held in the Freemasons’ Hall, Moray place, en Tuesday evening, the lodges represented being the Otago, No. 844 ; Dunedin No. 931; Port Chalmers Marine, No,’ 842; Palmerston, No. 1749; Hercules, No. 1875; and Hk'ain, No. 2008. The following are the District Grand ofilcers for the current year:—D.G.S.W., W. Bro. J. A. D. Adams ; D.G.J.W., W. Bro. Rev. B. Lichtenstein; D.G. Chaplain, Bro. Rev. D. J. Murray; D.G.
