[Per United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, March 26. Mr Clendon, R.M., has telegraphed to the Government respecting the Maori craee in the North. He states that the reports re the self-saorifice were circulated by illinformed Europeans. He does not consider thcro is any danger of a difficulty arising, and says that the "prophetess" could be arrested at any time, if necessary. She has offered herself for arrest, but one of the leading chiefs has expressed a wish that she should be allowed her liberty until the time for her "millenium" to eommence has. PaSSe * CHRISTCHURGH, March 26. At Ambcrley to-day W. Burton was committed for trial for criminal assault upon a married woman.
