THE GOVERNOR'S DEPARTURE.

His Excellency Sir William Jervois left Dunedin for the North this morning by special train, which started from the railway station shortly after nine o'clock. The Dunedin Cavalry, under command of Captain Strouach, formed an escort to accompany His Excellency from the Fernhill Club to the station. At the latter place the Naval Artillery, tinder Captain Smith, were drawn up as a guard of honor. The Garrison Band was also in attendance, and accorded His Excellenoy musical honors, Among those present at the station to take leave of the Governor were Lieutenant-colonel Stavoly, the Mayor, the Hon. George M'Lean, and Mr W. D. Stewart. Three ringing cheers were given by the crowd that had assembled as the train left the station,
