OCEAN BEACH DOMAIN BOARD.

The ordinary meeting of tfie Ocean Beach Domain Board was held to-day, asd yp.s attended by Messrs J. P. Maitland (chairman), G. G. Russell, H. Driver, and J. Robin.

The Inspector of Police wrote stating that ho would report any removals of sand from the domain.

The Chairman stated that he had written to the Minister of Lands for authority to make a total survey of the sandhills, so that the Board may more effectually deal with any proposals in reference to thejn. The following letter was read; — Wellington. 4th March, 1854Sir,—l have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 27th ult., applying for a small grant of money to meet the preliminary expenses of the Board, It being at present without any revenue whatever. In reply I have to inform you that the Government have no funds out of which they could contribute towards the expenses of the Domain Board. Provision was wade in the Land Bill of last session by which the IgcaJ bodies might apply from the district funds such moneys from Vine to UpiO S,s they might think lit towaida the maintenance and .cnibefliahmcnt of recreation reserves, but unfortunately the Bill was lost. The Government, however, propose to bring a similar provision forward again.—l have, etc , W. Rolleston, Minister of Lands.
