LECTURES ON AMERICA
TO THK KDITOK. Sm,—On Thursday last Mr Charles Bright delivered before only a small audience a very interesting lecture ge his visit to America. Probably the causes oi the small attendance were want of publicity and the proximity to the holidays of the night chosen ; net improbably also the fact of the lecture being expected to savor too u:uch of Frecthought subjects, had some influence on the attendance. It occurs to me that there is sufficient interest taken here in the great Eepumzc to bring together a large audience, and I would suggest to Mr Bright that he should give a lecture on his impressions of the tendency of many of the leading social and political questions that are sure sooner or later to bring about a vast struggle amongst the American people. That he is very capable of dealing in an interesting manner with these uestions was made manifest by the concluding portion of his late lecture, I m, etc., Colonist. JJunedin, January 5,
