Wo understand that Mr Fish will address the electors of Dunedin South on Monday evening next at the Princess's Theatre. His address will be confined to Harbor Board matters and his action in connection therewith during the late session. On general political subjects Mr Fish will address the electors about a month later. A libel action which is likely to occasion some interest v/ill probably come before tho Siiprci!i'i Court shortly. The plaintiff is Mr .). E. I • nniston, of the firm of Stewart, Holmes, and Denniston, solicitors, and the defendants are the ' Otago Daily Times ' and 'Witness' Newspaper Company (Limited.) The alleged libel was contained in " Passing Notes " published in the daily and weekly of the 15th ult. The claim is for the sum of L6OO for false and malicious libel. The defendants plead that the words complained of were fair and bona fide comments on the conduct of the plaintiff in his public capacity as a barrister, and that tbey were published without any malice, and tho defendants claim that as fair and bona fide comments and discussion on a matter of pubb> interest the same are piivileged. Messrs Sicvwright, Stout, and Co. have been retained for the plaintiff, and Messrs Smith, Anderson, and Co. are counsel for the defendants,
