The amount ot revenue collected at the Oastomhouse on goods cleared to-day for consumption ms L 529 2s 9d. Business for the week has, on the whole, been rather quiet for the beginning of the month. The market is now well supplied with sugars, and the sales reported during the week have been effected mainly, we think, by the low prices accepted for parcels. Trade lots of snowdrops bring LSI 16s to L 3 2; finest whites, LSI to LSI ss; greys and whites, LBO to L3010s; yellows, L2B to L 29. Teas are in slightly better demand. Kerosene continues quiet for this season. Noonday is worth le 6d (in bond), Aurora and Royal Diamond, Is 6sd to la 7d (duty paid). Stocks of imported candles are low. We quote Be Roubaix Jenar’s, BJd. Sales are passing of corn sacks, in storekeepers’ lots, at 7s 3d. In fish, salmon halves sardines are very scarce at 9s to Os Bd, and 10s 9d to 11s. Patna rice is selling at L2O, but parcels to arrive, ex sailing vessel, are offering considerably under this price. Prime salt butter brings lid; cheese, 5Jd to 6d. The South British Insurance Company received for premiums during the half-year ended February 28 the sum of L 96,110. The profit on the half-year’s transactions was L 10,284, which, with interest and balance brought forward, leaves L 23.910 to the credit of profit and loss account. A 10 per cent, dividend has been declared. A meeting of Mr J. Oram Sheppard’S creditors was held in Christchurch on Thursday. The present position of affairs between Mr Sheppard and his creditors is that the total amount of liabilities ifi roughly about L 40,000, LSO.OOO of which are debts to Creditors who have securities over Mr Sheppard’s property, the remaining LIO.OOO being to unsecured creditors. Mr Sheppard some time ago, shortly after the difficulty arose, filed a deed of oompositibn proposing to give the unsecured creditors _los in the 19 • cash, and the balance to be made up in payments spread over a period of three years. The meeting was called for the purpose of considering Whether the proposed composition should be accepted. After the position of affairs had been discussed for some time, it was decided to adjourn the meeting to Thursday next, to enable the debtor to complete his arrangements in the interim. ■" ' ” THE SHARE MARKET.
