A SAVAGE HORSE.

The ‘Rockhampton Bulletin’ gives the following full particulars of the death of a groom from the vicious attack of an entire horseOn the 7th February a man named Carl Ross lost his life from the attack of a heavy draught entire horse imported from Scotland some time ago. Ross was tending the horse lately, and was as usual driving him to the paddock, when suddenly the horse made an attack on him, seizing him by the leg and pulling him off the saddle-horse. As soon as he was on the ground the brute kneeled down and commenced to literally gnaw and tear the flesh from Ross’s leg. His cries soon attracted attention, and were taken up by the blacks, who saw what was going on. The owners Of the station, the manager, and all in the house were commencing breakfast, and hearing the frightful cries, ran out to witness the poor fellow fighting with the horse, which was kneeling on him and tearing his flesh, and men running tp

help him from several directions. The horse, seeing the men coining up, caught the man by the leg and dragged him some distance, then let go his hold and kicked at him. The poor fellow was terribly braised and torn, and was at once taken to his house, where his wounds were dressed. Every care was taken of him till the doctor from Springsure arrived next morning, who again dressed the leg; but as the shock had been too much for the nervous system he died on Sunday. The horse, a very valuable one, was shot the following morning.”
