Passengers : Miss Jones, Mesdames Moore and child, W. P. Berry, Mr and Mrs Dallas and two children, Mr and Mrs Thompson, Messrs Hecklar (2), J. Troup, W. Lafcchmorc, R. J. Lawlor, Kennedy, Graham, Benjamin ; and three steerage. SAILED— July 11. Kakanui, 8.8., 50 tons, Sundstrum, for Invorcargill. Maori, 5.8., 174 tons, Cromarty, for Oamaru. July 32. Palmerston, ketch, 25 tons, Hill, for Catlin River. Rotomahaxia, s.s., 1,727 tons, Underwood, for the North. Bowon, s.s., 844 tons, Craig, for Hong Kong via Lyttelton. Passengers for Hong Kong : Thirty-one Chinese. Mr J. Mackintosh, who has for several months past filled the position of Customs surveyor at Port Chalmers during the absence on leave of Mr J. R. Monson, has been recalled to Dunedin, and his position taken up by Mr Macdonald. During the timo Mr Mackintosh was at the Port he gained many friends through the unvarying courtesy ho displayed. The s.s. Waitaki left Timaru at 5 p.m. on Tuesday ; experienced fine weather down the coast, and arrived at Port Chalmers at 8 a.m. to-day. Amongst other cargo, she brings 500 sacks of grain, 200 cases of meat, 57 casks of tallow, and 10 bales o! wool for the ship Invercargill. The s.s. Wakatipu arrived at Port Chalmers at 10 a m. to-day with passengers and cargo from Sydney. ( She left that port at 6.30 p.m. on the 4th inst.; ex- , porienced light weather until 4 a.m. on the oth, when ! she passed Stephen Island, and thenco had strong N.W. winds, with rainy weather, to arrival at Wellington at 10.30 a.m. same day ; left at 4.10 p.m. on the 10th ; experienced fine weather, and arrived at Lyttelton at 8.30 a.m. on the 11th inst.; left again at 3.30 p.m., and arrived as above. Wo thank Mr Ligginß, purser, for report and files. Tho s.s. Durham, which left London on May 5, arrived at Melbourne on July 10. Hor machinery broke down, and she was obliged to put into Portland for repairs. . The steamer Waipara is on the north spit at llokitika. In trying to get the stoamcr off yesterday the hawser slipped and broke Captain Bignell's arm in two places. Sutherland, the mate, and ono of the seamen also received injuries. She was floated off yesterday. Shipping Telegrams. Wellington, July 12.—Birker, barque (Captain Jones), from London; 80 days out. A fortnight ago an apprentice named Garringham fell from the spanker-gaff and had his thigh-bone broken. Lyttelton, Julv 11.—Lutterworth, barque (Caption Pearson), 96 days from London, with twenty-one passengers.- 5.30 p.m., Penguin, for Wellington.—s p.m., Te Anau, for Port Chalmers. Russell, July 11.- Rotorua, from Sydnoy. Auckland, July n.—Ringarooma, from Gisbornc—• 1 p.m., Taiaroa, from Fiji.
