An old lady at an inquest tn-day showed that she undoubtedly hailed from the Emerald Isle, for she remarked in answer to a question put by the Coroner "I saw him (meaning the deceased) alive before he died." A point of some importance to harbor boards wa« decided by Mr Justice Richmond at Wellington last week on a special case stated for the opinion of the Supreme Court, with reference to the claim made by the Wellington Harbor Board upon Captain Williams for harbor dues upon coals imported by him under his contract to supply the Government railways. His Honor held that the coals were exempt from harbor dues, being " goods for the service of Her Majeßty in the Colony," and therefore specially exempted by the Harbors Act, 1878. Judgment was ordered to be entered for the defendant, with coßts.
