MR GREEN AND "ANOTHER PERSON."

TO THE EDITOR. tSiR,—I have already replied to your correspondent " Another Person " as to his charge of plagiarism, and, with the exception of stating that I have not seen Dawson's " Nature and the Bible," nor his " Origin of tlto "World acoording to Revelation and Science," it calls -for no further remark than to sav that I am most happy to acknowledge myself greatly indebted to Dr Dawson as well as to others, and that as I neither made the facts nor yet discovered them I must of necessity be under obligations to others for them. Your correspondent reveals his identity so clearly that it would not be a very difficult matter to give his name; and his tactics are so characteristic of the special pleader who, when his case is bad, endeavors to raise side issues, that it does not occasion much sur-

prise. Your correspondent's account of the reason for his entering upon the controversy in amusing, and I may icform him that his plan was immediately seen through, and hence the trap was not effective. The invitation to Mr Denton or any other person was to Mhow, that there was a conflict between the ascertained facts of science and the language of Scripture. Instead of doing this " Another Person " asks me to give him my interpretation of Genesis. I have no doubt "Another Person" is well acquainted with the laws of reasoning, although in this case he seeks to avoid them. If, over his own signature, he will show that there is any conflict between any Avellaecertained geological fact and the language of Scripture, when such Scripture is interpreted according to the ordinary and reasonable rules of interpretation, I shall be happy to reply to him at whatever length you may be willing to allow the use of your columns. I shall, however, not allow "Another Person" to drift into side issues, nor shall I allow myself to be fired at from the dark. The personalities already indulged in by " Another Person " are quite sufficient to make it wise that the responsibility for them should be placed upon the proper shoulders. —I am, etc., M. W. Grkex. Dunedin, February 22.
