The briff Fanny was towed up to Dunedin yesterday afternoon.

The brjgantlne Nelderhorf, from the Mauritius, came in astern of the Kcputai yesterday afternoon and anchored off Deborah Bay. The Neiderhof is a sightly wooden vessel of 197 tons register, and was built four years since at Stralsund, North Germany. Sho brings 9,600 pockets of sugar. She left Mauritius oa July T : carried S.E. and S. winds to latitude 40ieg S.; passed the meridian of Cape Leeuwin on August 17, when she met strong westerly winds, veering from W. to W.N.W.; passed the Island of Tasmania on August 21; carried strong westerly gales ; sighted the Snares at 11 p.m. on the 28th, seven miles distant; experienced heivy gales from S. to S.W. winds with heavy seas, which broke on board, flooding the decks and eabin ; made Cape S mndere on the evening of the SOth, but owing to the force of the gale was driven to the northward ; the gale moderated on the morning of the Ist, followed by a N.E. breeze, which enabled her to make the Heads at noon yesterday. The Jncjan line arc putting the New Brunswick swinging berths in the state-rooms of all their steamers, because of the success attending the first experiments. The berths are hung on the principle of the binnacle, so as to retain their horizontal position even in a heavy sea. Captain Williams, of Wellington, has purchased an iron screw steamer, classed 100A1 at Hoyda, and built on the Clyde by Murdoch and Murray. The following are her dimensions:—Length over all, 16ift; breadth. 23ft; gross register tonnage, 410 tons. She has two, c 'mpouud surface condensing engines of 65 horsepower noffi'nal, and 36.5 indicated; diameter of cylinders, 20in and ; stroke of piston, 27in; working pressure of boiler, 801b ; her consumption of coal will be 6} tons per day, with a speed of 9J knots. She is fitted with two steam winches (horizontal) atd patent windlass ; and she has space for 50 tons water ballast She is rigged a3 a topsail schooner; her quarter-deck is raised 4ft on the main deck; her draught w.th 480 tons is 12ft, and with 320 tons 10ft She has accommodation for 20 ealoon and 20 steerage passengers. She was to leave the Clyde in the second week of this month, under command of Captain Williams (who brings her out himself); calls at Cardiff to fill up with coil, and as she leaves the latter port for Wellington direct, may be looked for about the end of October.
