Thursday, August 25. (Before W. L Simpson, Esq., R.M.) S. J. Mercer v. M. M'Cabc-This was an later* pleader case, to decide as to the ownership of certain articles of furniture which had been seized en behalt of plaintiff under a distress warrant. Evidence was given for the defendant, but His Worship said he did not {five much credit to it —Judgment was reserved W. C. Ferguson v, B. WlnKon!—Claim, Lls 19s 6d, for breach of contract. Mr Macgregor appeared for plaintiff; Mr MacDermott for defendant— Plaintiffs evidence was to the effect that he contracted to clear some bush land for defendant, but the latter hindered him from completing the job.—The defence was that plaintiff neglected the work, and also that he had been paid more than he affirmed. [Left sitting.]
