Hall last night, Mr E. Chisholm, who pieeidod, explained that although the resolutions submitted at last meeting empowering the directors to take over the business of the Union Permanent Society had been unanimously approved, the votes recorded had not been sufficient to comply with the provisions of the Building Societies Act in respect of resolutions of that character, and that this meeting was called to consider and pass the same resolutions. The resolutions were then put and carried; and on the lists being made up the chairman announced that, including proxies, the members voting exceeded by five twothirds of the whole number on the register, and that three held shares to the extent of thirty beyond tho two-thirds required by the Building Societies Act. Ho therefore declared' the resolutions to be finally carried. The transfer of the business of the Union to their books was now a matter of detail, and would ba completed as soon as practicable. Mr J. F. Watson received a telegram from Reefton to-day stating that the Welcome Company return was 7i3oe of amalgam from under 100 tons of stono.
